About the Event:
Paths Forward: Supporting and Advancing Indigenous Employees
This session equips human resource professionals with the knowledge and strategies to support the career development of Indigenous employees while fostering inclusive and culturally safe workplaces. Participants will explore the unique barriers and opportunities Indigenous employees face, examine effective mentorship and sponsorship models, and learn how to integrate Indigenous knowledge and values into career development frameworks. Through interactive discussions and practical tools, participants will gain actionable strategies to build trust-based relationships, support career growth, and create meaningful pathways for Indigenous employees to thrive.

About the Speaker:
Lauren Remple, MA (pronouns she/her) Principal Consultant and Founder Sequoia Collaboration and Consulting
Lauren is a program manager and human resource professional committed to contributing to a more equitable and inclusive world. She has over 15 years of experience in human resources,
Indigenous engagement and equity, diversity and inclusion predominantly within the post-secondary, telecommunications and energy sectors. Lauren is Cree and of mixed- European ancestry and is a proud citizen of Alexander First Nation in Treaty 6 territory.
Lauren uses a values-centric and intersectional approach to program development and project management and is guided by the ethical principles of reciprocity, responsibility, relevance and
respect. She has witnessed first-hand the power of co-creation, intercultural capacity-building and ethical community engagement to develop programs and opportunities that truly reflect the needs of participants. Lauren’s work is guided by Linda Tuhiwai- Smith’s 25 Indigenous projects, which describe opportunities to further an agenda of social justice, cultural restoration and decolonization.
Lauren holds a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Royal Roads University, where her work focused on the reciprocal benefits of Indigenous youth using experiential-learning opportunities to build solidarity and to further the adoption and implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. S
Lauren has lived in Treaty 7 territory, Region 3 of the Métis Nation in Alberta, in Calgary for her entire life. She and her partner enjoy spending time outdoors with their two children and two golden retrievers. Lauren is an avid world traveler, cyclist, and reader. Her favourite authors are Richard Wagamese and Isabel Allende.
